Reflexology & Zone Therapy
Reflexology is an ancient healing practice and its origins can be found in China, Egypt and India. Native Americans also used the practice of Reflexology.
I studied in the Chinese style of Reflexology, which is also known as Zone Therapy and has been practiced for over 3,000 years.
Reflexology is a more widely used term these days than Zone Therapy, and has a different emphasis relating more to theory.
This mixture of Reflexology/Zone Therapy is considered to be a healing art, a science, or a mixture of the two.
As an ancient technique, it treats the whole body by pressing reflex points mapping of organs and body systems onto the foot (hand, ear or face). Thus the body parts each lie in a particular zone and have a reflex, that lie in the corresponding zone. This, in turn, affects different organs in the body through the meridian system and through different zones relating to each organ.
Reflexology is a holistic approach to medicine and is an aid, not a cure. Like Qi Gong and Tai Chi, you will hear about the movement of energy and unblocking.
There are many benefits, here are just a few:
Improved circulation
Stress management
Improved sleep
Pain management
Improved immunity
Reflexology may also improve digestion, increase cell function, improve skin health, break down congestion, and improve mobility and flexibility.
It can also help women manage menopause symptoms and support their overall well-being. Helping with both the physical and emotional aspects of menopause.
As a Reflexologist, I was luckily enough to be trained by world-renowned Reflexologist Beryl Crane, who herself trained in China. Beryl founded the Crane School of Reflexology in Essex England.
She became a fellow of the Reflexologists’ Society in 1989, and also became their Chairperson in 1995. And in 1999 she became the President of the Board of Directors of the International Council of Reflexology.
I am qualified in Reflexology, Reflex Zone Therapy, and Anatomy and Physiology Theory.
I qualified with Beryl in 1994.
